My April Read

To continue my efforts to stave off the inevitable book apocalypse and atone for my past sins of not supporting good writing, I went to my local indie bookstore and picked up what will be my April fiction read.

The book is Fourth of July Creek by Smith Henderson. Not only does it meets my self-imposed book-club qualification of being new in paperback, but more importantly, it soothes my American Studies soul by hitting one over the head with its myth-and-symbol title. More seriously, it’s been lauded in reviews, where Henderson has been compared to Cormac McCarthy.
